MDV – Local public transport in Central Germany
Within the MDV (Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund) network you can use the train, S-Bahn, tram and bus with just one ticket, and easily switch between different modes of transport – no matter where you bought your MDV ticket or how often you want to switch.
The MDV is the public transport network for Central Germany and covers the train, S-Bahn, tram and bus services provided by 13 different transport companies. Standardised tickets, comprehensive service offerings, coordinated schedules and information, and joint services with the partner transit companies all help move MDV passengers forward faster.
The network covers the cities of Leipzig and Halle, as well as the districts of Saalekreis, North Saxony, Leipzig greater area, Altenburger Land and Burgenlandkreis.
The MDV Nord area, however, includes the districts of Anhalt-Bitterfeld and Wittenberg as well as the city of Dessau-Roßlau, but the MDV ticket is only valid on the train and S-Bahn here.
